Family Resemblance

I was flipping through my photos while standing in line at Calypso and I saw this photo of my Dad and thought, holy crap, that looks just like Julia...
Tara & Jai had their first baby, Julia, who was due on Dec 13, but was born Dec 9, 2008 @ 3:22am via C-section. Their second baby, Jacqueline, was due on Jan 19, but was born Jan 11, 2012 @ 8:43pm, a VBAC baby! This is the place where we intend to keep everybody informed about our family's activities & thoughts. For their sakes, reduce, recycle & reuse.
How Julia got her name
Not sure when exactly we discussed the name situation, maybe after we got engaged, definitely before we got married, we had some conversations about names of our children. Since Jai is a III, he wants to name a boy a IV - not Tara's cup of tea, but it is amazing what you are willing to reconsider and compromise when you love someone. Part of that compromise arrangement was that Tara got to choose the nickname for a boy (James seems like a formal name for a little baby). The other part was Tara got to choose the name for a baby girl and then hopefully we would use Jai's mother's name as the middle name. Since Jai and the baby boy would have the initials JS as well as Johnders Sanson, our dog, and Tara has a J in her last name, Tara thought how about a J first name for the girl and again the initials JS since the last name will be Jai's.
So how/why Julia? Well, many of you might know how much Tara loves Julia Roberts. Most favorite actress! One of Tara's college classmates/friends recently reminded her of seeing "Pretty Woman" at M.I.T. in 1990. However, Tara remembers seeing one of JR's first movies, "Mystic Pizza" her first year at Wellesley College in 1988 and falling in love with JR. It really was a no-brainer so that's how we chose her first name. The middle name is in honor of Jai’s mother, Frances. Then Tara remembered that her stepfather’s mother name is Frances too so it is double blessing. Besides "Julia Frances" has a nice cadence to it.
Some of you might wonder about the last name since Tara is non-traditional and why wouldn't we hyphenate. Tara's thought is she's had her last name for 38 years and it is a very common one, but a baby is new so one last name (and it being Jai's) is fine with her.
